The
Tree of Life, a new Terrence Malick movie comes around. It has currently won 45
awards out of 67 nominations. It’s also ranked higher by critics 85 than fans,
73. Typical for a cinematic work of art without a simplistic plot.
The
movie tells a plot about the impressionistic story of a Texas family in the
1950s. It follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the
innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to
reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt). Jack (Sean Penn) finds himself a
lost soul in the modern world, seeking answer to the origins and meaning of
life while questioning the existence of faith.
As
a Cinematographer in this movie, Emmanuel Lubezki using state of the art
cameras: Arricam LT/ST/235/435 with Zeiss Master/Ultra Prime, Dalsa Evolution,
IMAX Cameras, Panavision 65HR, Phantom HD Gold, and of course RED ONE.
Indeed,
I’m a big fanboy of Terrence Malick. He has a degree in philosophy from Harvard
University, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He also went to
Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar, and a professor at MIT.
